✨ at home artist residency recap ✨
over the course of 3 days 20 folks floated in & out of our at-home artist residency space. we met on zoom each morning & evening, creating a container of accountability. on day 1 everyone was invited to create a list of projects/goals… anything & everything folks wanted to work on throughout our time together, the next week, year, etc! my personal goals for the 3 days were to paint my baby room (as seen in several of the above photos), research local vinyl printers, & design my vinyl designs on procreate.
broad takeaways: community as an accountability container, preparation prior to practice, clarity for focus, devotion to practice, the need to protect creative currents, the desire to stay connected.
I’m feeling deeply inspired by all the people who said YES, showing up to participate with each other & themselves. This will likely become a yearly offering & I’m loosely holding the intent to gather 1x/month for an accountability counsel space ~ a place where we can share about our creative practices with each other. With this, I’m giving birth to a human baby this month & will be hermitting (hello hermit year!)
I’ll be sharing more in my next newsletter ~ sign up via the link in my bio :)

✨🕯️ SAMHAIN 🕯️✨
A Gaelic word pronounced saa-wn, or sow-wen.
A holy day marking the new year, the beginning of the winter season.
As we usher in the longer dark nights in the northern hemisphere we call upon ancestors to guide us in the year ahead. This Samhain feels especially significant for me as it is the first where I’m honoring my grandmother, Shirley, and beloved familiar, Lila, as ancestors at my hearth.
There are so many ways to honor Samhain and it is a beautiful opportunity for white-bodied folks with Irish ancestry to create connection with lineage, unraveling the myth of Whiteness. Lately I’ve been sitting with the idea of small, gentle rituals…. Some examples: lighting a candle with a prayer to an ancestor ~ placing a plate for the ancestors overnight, closing the eyes for a moment to offer a spell for liberation.
Image ID: 1. Light coming through a large aspen grove. 2. Mullein harvested at sunset on a walk with my pup. 3. My hearth with our first fire, in honor of Lila.
