2 years ago, almost to the date. I was given an ultimatum by my boss at a place I dreaded going to despite absolutely loving my job.
I was given this ultimatum because two months prior I was made to choose between saving my 6 month old puppy’s life and staying at work.
Obviously, I chose my puppy after all he is my soul dog. But that caused such a horrible strain at work and made a toxic workplace twice as toxic.
I would say it was a hard decision of whether or not I would comply with the ultimatum but it really wasn’t. Yes I did love what I did but I was underpaid and overworked, I was expected to respect those who disrespected me and it just wasn’t fair. So I quit.
I automatically started looking for other places to work but the idea of working under someone again and risking the same treatment was just not it for me.
Since I refused to work for others, my only option was to work for myself and that’s what I have started doing.
After two long years of finding the perfect option for me I finally took the leap!
