Reply to post on Nov.3 ---- The Art history of the color blue is well documented (the most expensive color during the Renaissance derived from Lapis-Lazuli - usually reserved for royals and Mary's cloak - denotes harmony, the heavens, Picasso's Blue Period, and of course it was widely used by the Impressionists).
As I studied the piece, I was intrigued by the way the horse's bodies folded into each other. I was immediately reminded of Cezanne's "Bathers" with the blues and beiges and the overlapping of the bodies. The clincher was my figure to the right who moves away but at the same time acknowledges and communicates with the horses by his "looking back" (note the third figure from the right in the "Bathers" who turns away but also looks back). Still, I wanted to take it a step further and emphasize the powerful bond between the human and the horses, and here the aura around the figures gives us a sense of "oneness".

Chile season is about over but this is still one of my favorites, done on film about 13 years ago. I am now on Instagram so head on over and take a look.

For those of you considering an Artist Proof of Gregg's new floral piece, one has sold and there is now only one more available.
We have hung a 36" x 50" canvas (edition of 5) of this new photograph at the gallery and it is absolutely stunning!

Gregg spent the better part of the day yesterday working on his portfolio books. Grouping, organizing, and looking for just the right flow to showcase some of his new work. It was fun for people visiting the gallery to see some of the behind the scenes work that goes into these beautiful books.

Our pop-up gallery is well under way! We had a fabulous time during Indian Market and met so many amazing people. Even fall has arrived early, the most beautiful time of the year here in Santa Fe. We've brought in two wonderful chairs. Who wants to come by and have an art chat?

What do you do when a rockstar painter comes into the gallery and wants to do a trade? You try to have some fun and make sure to get a selfie! Here he is, the one and only: Darren Vigil Gray!
