The job of the pool filter, and why it is important to backwash it.

The filter's job is to remove any impurities in the pool. This includes leaves, sand, small toys, and even insects or spiders. Most of the time, the pool can be cleaned out by turning off the filter, removing the filter cap, and emptying the basket. This should be done once a week.
Once a month it is important to backwash the filter. This will help to clean out the pipes of any debris. The water is sent backwards out the filter and sent to waste. Doing this will help to keep your filter functioning at a normal level.

Weekly and monthly maintenance is necessary to keep a pool running efficiently. This will keep your pool sparkly blue, as well as cut down on costly repairs.
