That is what Tracy Mattson said about the moment a career-ending injury closed one door and forced her to open another. What came out of that pivot was COOKIE...take a bite!, a women-owned artisan bakery in Santa Rosa built on resilience, craft, and the belief that good ingredients and intentional sizing matter.

Today the bakery sources butter from Straus Family Creamery, flour from Central Milling in Petaluma, mentors high school students, and partners with the California Department of Rehabilitation to provide meaningful employment opportunities.

The story behind a small business is often the most powerful part of the brand. We are grateful Tracy chose to keep going.

There is something really special about watching first graders walk into our bakery for the first time. We were so excited to host the Reibli first graders again this year, and it never gets old. The wide eyes when the oven door opens, the questions about how the dough gets so smooth, the little hands waving when they recognize a flavor they have tried before. It is honestly one of our favorite parts of being part of this community.

We always wonder what their favorite part of the tour ends up being. The cookies? The big mixer? The fact that the whole bakery smells like sugar from the moment they walk in? Probably all three. Thank you to the teachers, parents, and volunteers who made this possible, and thank you to the Reibli first graders for being such wonderful guests!
