This one stings a little…

because sometimes the clients you need to let go are the ones you actually like.

I’ve had clients who were kind, easy to talk to, even fun to work with… but behind the scenes, things just weren’t working.

Maybe they weren’t following through at home.

Maybe their dog wasn’t a good fit for my program.

Maybe I was constantly adjusting, overextending, or low-key dreading their days on my schedule.

And I kept them anyway… because I liked them.

That’s the trap.

Liking someone is not a valid reason to keep them in your business if the overall situation is costing you your energy, your structure, or the quality of care you provide.

If you’re constantly making exceptions for one client, that doesn’t just affect you, it affects every dog in your care and the flow of your entire day. And that’s not fair to anyone.

At some point, you have to take a step back and ask yourself, “If this inquiry came in today, would I say yes to it?”

If the answer is no… you already know what needs to happen.

This doesn’t make you a bad person. It makes you a responsible business owner.

Because protecting your business sometimes means letting go of people you genuinely like… so you can make space for the ones who actually fit
