Hey folks, thanks to everyone that came out to work on their phase one animal handling skills. Phase one is all about teaching the dogs to keep 4 feet on the floor and relax when people are coming and going.

The goal of the whole shelter handling protocol is to lower the intensity of the shelter environment; improve the dogs ability to meet and greet people, and improve welfare. If you want to be a part of that project, contact Clearlake Animal Association and ask how you can volunteer. Even if all you want to do is walk by enclosures and treat dogs for keeping all their feet on the floor, there is something for everyone that wants to be involved.
