In this special episode, Ira and Leo speak with Cuban diplomats David Ramírez Álvarez and Adrián Heredia Machado about Cuba’s ongoing struggle under the United States–imposed blockade. For the past 64 years, the United States has imposed an economic, commercial, and financial embargo on Cuba that prevents most trade with the United States and punishes other countries that engage with Cuba. In recent weeks, policies under Donald Trump have intensified the crisis, including an inhumane fuel blockade that inflicts daily hardships and deprivations on the Cuban people, creating shortages of basic necessities. Davis and Adrián told us about the resilience and inventiveness of the Cuban people in the face of these conditions. The episode also highlights the growing solidarity movement in the United States, as hundreds of young organizers embark on the Nuestra América Convoy to Cuba, delivering urgently needed aid in defiance of the blockade. Our very own co-host, Ira, will be joining them later this week, so be sure to tune in again to hear the interviews and statements Ira gathers on the ground, bringing firsthand accounts of solidarity, resistance, and the realities facing the Cuban people today.
From across the U.S., a clear message is being raised: Let Cuba Live!!!

Tuesday night at Five Points Park in Sarasota, there was a Candlelight Vigil for Alex Pretti and all Victims of ICE. Attendees honored ICE victims with donations to local mutual aid efforts.
“FOOD FOR OUR NEIGHBORS” is an ongoing food drive run by The Church of the Trinity MCC and the Tampa Bay Immigrant Solidarity Network that always needs donations of non-perishable food as well as monetary donations to purchase perishable items.
Check out the flyer for most needed items, as well as times to drop-off items. There is a QR code to make monetary donations.
Currently the Tampa Bay Immigrant Solidarity Network is helping a mother in our region as her baby will soon be having a major brain surgery. This mother will be missing work for the baby’s recovery because her partner was deported recently and she has no benefits or PTO! To alleviate her stress we ask listeners to donate: financial assistance, size 2T zip up onesies, gauze, and diapers for 22 lbs.
Thank you for standing in solidarity and supporting our immigrant neighbors.
International Migrants Day is built on a UN resolution.
Recognition on paper. Neglect in practice.
The gap between promise and reality is vast. Recognition without protection is hypocrisy.
