Our Story
Call it jazz, bam, improvised creative, spontaneous composition, or just plain old the good kind, we'll be programming it from 7-10 pm daily, starting mid January 2018.
We have big ears and we will be playing the music, all genres. There will be DJ's, in real time, with 2 turntables and a microphone, and yes, we will be streaming, too. We are adding transmitters to extend our terrestrial reach, creating a new grassroots radio network. We believe in freedom and since we don't have any corporate interests to serve, we have a lot of freedom.
We will also be playing and promoting the fine musicians and venues local to us in Troy NY. We define that kinda widely, too. A big circle from the Falcon in Marlboro, up to the Lake George area. That's the Hudson Valley, Capital Region...
In the fullness of time, we will be doing interviews and live music in the studio, but that's down the road aways. We do livestream our events on the main stage - did you catch Melissa Aldana a few weeks ago?
We are busy, building a music library, training on-air people, and building awareness and an audience. Not everyone can afford home internet, but everyone has access to a radio. We leave no one behind on this trip.....
The Sanctuary is located in a very low income neighborhood. When we have live events, you'll see many local children, since we let them in at no charge. We had Jaimeo Brown's Transcendence a few years ago. There was a little girl, about six years old, air drumming with all she had. I laughed and thought, wait till she gets a load of Teri Lyne Carrington or Cindy Blackman, when it hit me that unless we bring them here, that child will never get the chance to hear the masters of this music.
