🌟Recipient of the SUNY - The State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified Service

Chuck Barber has been a valued member of the SUNY Schenectady community for more than 12 years, with his connection to the College beginning during his time as a student working toward his degree. Even then, he demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring the College’s hardware and software systems were securely configured, consistently updated, and well-maintained.

Throughout his tenure, Chuck has played an indispensable role in keeping technology running smoothly across campus. He is often the first person called when technical issues arise and is widely recognized for his ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and efficiently—minimizing downtime and restoring functionality with remarkable speed.

Chuck is known for his calm, composed, and patient approach to troubleshooting. He takes the time to gather the necessary information to properly address every issue, all while making users feel understood and supported throughout the process. His exceptional interpersonal skills and commitment to high-quality support make him a trusted resource for faculty, staff, and students alike.

Chuck’s impact extends beyond his technical expertise. He is highly skilled in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and personal situations. He has been observed engaging with first-generation college students, encouraging them in a kind and approachable manner to seek support and stay on track to complete their degrees.

🚨 Hackers Are Out There — Stay Alert! 🚨

Phishing emails and fake forms are designed to trick even careful users. Please keep these tips in mind to protect your account and others:

🔑 IT will never ask for your password, MFA codes, or recovery codes.
📝 Legitimate forms may ask for basic info (like your name, college email, or phone number) — but never your login credentials, MFA codes, full Social Security number, or financial details by email.
📧 Be cautious about the sender. A form or document asking for sensitive information will never come from just another student’s account.
🌐 Only enter information on official pages you reach yourself (like sunysccc.edu or the official Microsoft sign-in page).
⚠️ If you receive an email or form asking for login details or other sensitive information, don’t respond — click the Phish Alert button to report it.

💡 Hackers are like raccoons — always digging through the trash and hoping you’ll leave something tasty out. Don’t feed the hackers! 🦝💻
💡 If an email looks suspicious, think of it like free pizza left in the hallway — tempting, but probably not safe. 🍕🚫

Remember: once an account is compromised, it can be used to target others. That’s why we take phishing attempts seriously and why your caution matters.

If you’re ever unsure, reach out to IT — we’re here to help review suspicious messages and keep your account safe.

Stay smart. Stay safe. 🛡️
