β—οΈβš“ UPDATE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the historic Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief will unfortunately be unable to make its scheduled stop at Mohawk Harbor today.

Late last night, notification was received from the NYS Canal Corporation that the Waterford Flight of Locks is temporarily closed due to a mechanical issue and will remain closed until further notice, requiring adjustments to the Back to Buffalo Voyage itinerary.

As a result, the planned stop in Schenectady at Mohawk Harbor will no longer take place, and the vessel is expected to continue west once the Waterford Flight reopens.

While disappointing, excitement remains for a future opportunity to welcome the Seneca Chief back to Schenectady. The celebrated replica vessel offers a unique connection to New York’s canal history and the extraordinary role the Erie Canal played in shaping communities across the state, including Schenectady County.

Thank you for your understanding. βš“
