Iām sharing āHappy to be Nappyā by bell hooks ā a book Iāve had since I was a little girl.
The word ānappyā was used to shame us. bell hooks reclaimed it in 1999.
Pennsylvania just passed the CROWN Act, finally making hair discrimination illegal in schools and workplaces. She said it first.
Thatās liberation work. Thatās language work. Thatās childrenās literature doing what itās supposed to do ā shaping how we see ourselves.
