Finished drywall installed locally.

Vaulted ceilings, angles, and a lot of detail on this one.

🔨 A lot of people install roofs.
Not everyone builds them to survive hurricanes… or pass federal inspections.

I started roofing at 18 years old, learning the trade the old-fashioned way — on the roof, putting in the hours and earning every step forward.

In my early 20s, I moved to Tampa, Florida, where roofing systems must meet some of the toughest hurricane codes in the country. Within a short time, I became a roofing foreman for Tecta America, one of the largest commercial roofing companies in the United States, supervising crews of 8–12 installers, many older than myself.

On large commercial and industrial projects, those crews sometimes grew to 20–30+ installers working on massive roof systems.

Working under Florida Building Code and Miami-Dade hurricane standards taught me installation methods and wind-resistant roofing systems that far exceed typical industry standards.

Over the years I’ve installed nearly every major roofing system used today:

• EPDM
• TPO
• PVC
• Built-up hot roofs
• Torch-down
• Metal roofing systems
• Slate
• Tile
• Shingles
• Coatings
• and many specialty systems.

Through Zator Contracting, I’ve also had the opportunity to work on hundreds of government projects, including work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the United States Marine Corps.

Our work received letters of recognition for outstanding workmanship and professionalism, including a commendation signed by Sgt. Hail of the Marine Corps.

I also assisted the Pittsburgh District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in redesigning a roofing system for a government facility near Erie, Pennsylvania, helping improve performance and long-term durability.

Government and military projects require strict adherence to federal construction codes, safety standards, and detailed inspection procedures — meaning the work must consistently exceed normal industry expectations.

After decades in this trade, one thing has never changed:

A roof isn’t just materials.

It’s protection for homes, businesses, families — and sometimes even facilities that protect our country.

When you’re installing roofs on high-security government buildings, there’s no room for shortcuts. Those roofs can’t leak, fail, or fall short of the standards required.

That same mindset is what I bring to every project, no matter the size.

If you ever have questions about a roof, a repair, or just want an honest opinion — I’m always happy to help.

After receiving my info from my cousin, a customer contacted me with a roofing issue. It turned out that a previous roofer had taken advantage of them, leaving their roof partially removed and vulnerable to leaks. I quickly arranged for a dumpster and materials to be delivered to the site, and finished the removal and shingling in just one day, giving the customer peace of mind.
