This month, we're proud to spotlight Ann Marie Matles, a graduate of Leadership Lackawanna's Core Class of 2024–2025, as July's Alumni of the Month!

Originally from Michigan, Ann Marie came to northeast Pennsylvania planning to stay only temporarily but quickly fell in love with the region's natural beauty, welcoming community, and rich history. Today, she proudly calls NEPA home.

As a Project Manager at Maximus Federal Services, Ann Marie is passionate about making a meaningful impact through collaboration, accessibility, and service. She finds purpose in working alongside compassionate teammates who help individuals access the support and resources they deserve.

Leadership Lackawanna strengthened Ann Marie's passion for community engagement. Since graduating, she has joined the NEPA Youth Shelter Board of Directors and returned to the program as a Core advisor, helping this year's class navigate their own leadership journey.

Outside of work, Ann Marie enjoys practicing jiu jitsu, gardening, exploring astronomy, and spending time with her goofy rescue pup. Her music playlists are, in her words, "pure organized chaos," and if you ask for a local recommendation, she'll happily send you to Bar Pazzo for creative pizza and her favorite dessert, the salted caramel affogato.
