In March I accepted a position at Shelterwood Collective, a healing collective based in Pioneer Square, and my world has expanded in the most beautiful way.

My title is Operations Manager, but my role is to be myself. My full self. Holding space. Supporting our collective members who are therapists and reiki practitioners and healers of all kinds. Caring for and stewarding our beautiful offices in Pioneer Square.

I have a dreamy commute on the water taxi each day. My co-workers are kind and fun to spend time with. I was paid to attend the most exquisite retreat on Whidbey Island within my first 2 weeks where I had the honor of leading a meditation class for our members.

Also, my Reiki practice is encouraged and supported here. They do not want me to give that up (and neither do I 😊).

I still have my healing studio in West Seattle, host my weekly meditation circle and see Reiki clients on the weekend.

When I opened to the idea of stepping into something new with a salary and benefits, I had no idea a place like this existed. It’s pretty amazing the way it all lined up. The synchronicities during the hiring process and beyond were wild and delightful.

I’m where I’m meant to be, meeting who I’m meant to meet, learning so many new things that I’m meant to learn.

I met Kaila when she booked a Reiki session with me earlier this year. Her business, her energy and her gifts are something I’m so happy to be able to highlight and support by hosting her a Mama Be Well once a month for her intimate and ethereal Sound Baths.

While May’s Sound Bath is on a Thursday, the rest will take place on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

We hosted a practice bath last month to see how it felt in the space, and it was so special. Her bowls + her vocalization + the energy she channels (Kaila is also a Reiki Master) makes for an otherworldly experience.

I’ve been wanting to tell you about this tree…

4 years ago I was in the process of moving out of my first office space, and this maple appeared in the parking garage next to my parking spot.

Later that day I ran into one of the residents of the building and asked, “What’s the deal with the tree in the parking garage?”

Well, it just so happened to be his tree that he had propagated from his favorite tree in the neighborhood. But due to limited porch space, and many other propagation projects, he had decided it was time to let this one go.

He had actually just listed it for sale on Craigslist. As soon as I heard that I knew this tree was meant to come with me to my new office space (which had a lovely, but empty, courtyard). So I gave him the cash, loaded up the maple in my Camry, and the two of us drove off together towards our next chapter.✨

Watching this tree flourish in Mama Be Well’s courtyard these past 4 years has felt quite special. It reminds me how delightfully unexpected life can be. The perfect tree can appear in the parking garage on your last day there.

I feel an immense kinship with this tree. It was placed in an environment where it couldn’t thrive. And then the Universe placed someone on its path to reconnect it with the sun and the soil and other trees. A more vibrant life was possible.

We’ve both experienced a lot of growth the past four years. Every time I walk past this beauty I’m reminded to stay hopeful and curious. We never know what magic and beauty awaits us around the next turn. ✨🍁✨
