Our last service is Friday, February 13th, 2026.

Here’s the wordy part:

Light Sleeper opened for indoor seating at 25% capacity on Thursday, March 4th, 2021. The concept lived in different time zones in my head, inspired by some favorite places to eat and drink wine in the Bay, New York, Amsterdam, Paris and Barcelona. The name conveyed a desire to be accepting, versatile, and dynamic—and to reward curiosity in the natural wine world.

Opening a spot as an independent operator is very personal. Lots of dreaming and sacrifice. Lots of fear and joy. The costs to do this in Seattle are insane… some can pull it off, others can’t. I started my career in restaurants on Pike/Pine, cooking breakfast at the Puss Puss Café over 30 years ago. I’ve been pouring wine on this block for 16 years, .and.spruce - I met and fell in love with my wife on this block. S**t, I was born seven blocks away. It’s personal.

Please, eat out at independent places. If you love a place, become a regular. Show them how much it means to you that they’re there. Scrappy, from-the-ground-up cats do this to bring you closer to the joy they’ve experienced in their lives, to share a piece of their journey.

Thanks first of all to the employees. And to you, our guests. And all the rad pop-ups. Thanks to our designers and and also to and for the mentions, among others. The last few weeks will be characteristically unpredictable, with many pop-ups planned in addition to our standard hours of service, and some surprises. Reservations will only be open a week in advance. Stay up for that.

Years ago, before my father passed away, I wrote some gloomy, nostalgic post on social media, to which he replied: “Memory is the basic survival characteristic. It makes possible both regret and joy. Sometimes you get to choose, most of the time you only get to differentiate.”

Hope y’all remember this place for a time. The fam is moving on from here with joy in our hearts. Choose the joy—for the moment, it’s right in front of you.
