One of the most important things to know about BWS:

Early monitoring saves lives.

Simple screenings in childhood can detect risks early—
and change outcomes completely.

Awareness isn’t just information—
it’s protection 💚

April is National Cancer Control Month, a time to focus on improving survival rates for children with cancer.

The facts:
🍋Childhood cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children in the U.S.
🍋 10–18% of childhood cancers are linked to an inherited genetic predisposition.

Advances in genetic testing are helping doctors identify cancer risks earlier—so families can get the monitoring, prevention strategies, and care they need.

🍋Most families don’t know until after diagnosis that their child has a predisposition. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation-funded researchers are working to change that by studying how early screening could make a difference: alexslemonade.org/where-money-goes/research/newborn-screening-early-childhood-cancer-predisposition-syndromes

This month, let’s continue to spread awareness, support families, and fund the research needed to treat childhood cancer more effectively.
