In 2014, native activists and allies successfully advocated for the City of Seattle to recognize and celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, on the second Monday in October. This year it falls on October 11, 2021. There are many ways to help celebrate in Seattle.
Tune in October 12-15, 2021, for the virtual presentation. This year’s theme, "Where the world gathers" links together the series of 24 free festivals presented throughout the year, each with a unique cultural focus, identity, and a range of engaging activities.

Our friends at the Office of Community Outreach & Engagement at Fred Hutch will be hosting a photoshoot September 28, 2021. They are looking for volunteers who represent the BIPOC community to model in a patient and doctor clinical scene and other settings. If you or another individual that would like to volunteer to represent Indigenous communities, please contact Liszet Bigelow at [email protected]

"Keep it Sacred"
Two traditional forms of to***co creating puffs of smoke. The smoke depicts a communal gathering around a drum circle, and the sparks fade out to look like stars, with the forms of animals and ancestors in the constellations looking down at the gathering. We emphasized that to***co should be used respectfully and safely in its traditional forms, and that by choosing not to put harmful chemicals in our bodies by cigarette or other unhealthy to***co usage, we are honoring these traditions and keeping it sacred.
