Intentional Futures

It's a beautiful day to spotlight another iFster-- Malia Nakamura, Digital Marketer.

Per Malia's manager, J.J. Westfall:

"Malia has found a fantastic way to bring her personal passion into her work at iF, which is a gift to us all! Not only is she a one-woman marketing team who's creative, responsive and skilled. Just in the first part of this year Malia has improved our iF website, brought to fruition a dozen thought-pieces / case studies, researched efficiencies for the org, hosted a very well-appreciated Linked In workshop, demoed cool AI tools, ushered iF's first impact report and supported an important World Bank project on sustainability. Malia also launched our quarterly street cleaning volunteer events. And in addition to all that, she has taken all iFster headshots and continues to find ways to incorporate her passion for photography into our work at iF!"

In order to fight for more equitable systems and structures, we must first shine a light on the disparities at play. Identifying the root causes of inequities is critical and usually requires an in-depth look at systemic forces, power differentials, and implicit biases.

We believe research must be designed to provide the whole picture of a person, and to elevate the real stories and lived experiences of marginalized and minoritized groups whose voices are too often minimized and tokenized.

In 2022, 48% of our projects were directly tied to improving environmental, social, and economic outcomes, and 33% of our projects were directly tied to improving outcomes for minoritized groups.
