If you're already opening up walls, it's the right time to think about a bar or coffee station. It's the kind of thing that's easy to fold into a remodel — and a much easier conversation at the start of a project than it is two years later. We've built these into butler's pantries, tucked them into kitchen runs, hidden them behind paneled doors; each one in whatever materials make sense for that house, whether that's marble and brass or walnut and glazed tile.

It's one of those additions that clients are always glad they didn't skip.

Before and Wow!

This family loves to bake, and the kitchen needed to reflect that.

We don't often use dark blue on cabinets paired with dark colored tile — but it totally works here. The niche shelving keeps oils and spices close to the range, we added vintage lighting to give the space some lived-in warmth, and the pantry got pulled into the same palette: navy walls, open shelving, a linen curtain on a brass rod.

Simple, but it does everything it needs to do.

We showed you the main floor and kitchen area of this Ballard home two weeks ago — here's the rest of the house.

The primary suite got a full built-in wardrobe and dresser, the kind of storage that quietly changes how you live in a space. We designed the upholstered headboard too; it ties the whole room together.

Both bathrooms have their own thing going on. The main floor bath leans into it: vintage powder blue sink on chrome legs, basket weave tile, a little personality. The other is quieter, but no less considered.

The basement was always going to keep its beams. We call it an honest basement — paint them out, light them well, and you have something a finished ceiling could never give you. The laundry room is tucked in and organized, with patterned tile and cabinetry that makes it feel like it belongs to the rest of the house.

Every room in this project got the same level of attention. It's all in the details.
