About the Position:

The Production Designer duties primarily include the creation of print magazines including page layout, page mockup, production, design, prepress, print advertising production; and creation of our Encore+ digital programs. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Publishing Services. This position works collaboratively with other members of the production department, all EMG Team Members, and external stakeholders to provide high-quality products and services to our clients.

General Responsibilities:

Understand and support Encore Media Group values, mission, vision

Proactively participate in Encore Media Group organizational development and strategic planning initiatives

Attend and actively engage in company and departmental meetings

Understand and adhere to all Encore Media Group and respective departmental policies and procedures

Build and maintain positive working relationships with all team members, clients, and external stakeholders (clients)

Meet and exceed all job performance standards and expectations

Ability to clearly communicate information to team members and clients

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Encore Arts Programs & Custom Publishing Projects:

Accepts & tracks job duties assigned by supervisor, including but not limited to schedule deadlines and associated tasks

Preflight and manage client provided content

Layout, design and manage various ads for Encore Arts Programs, Custom Publishing Projects, and Encore+ digital programs

Quality control of ads and artwork for the print and digital publications

Preflight and troubleshoot ads from advertisers within MagHub ticketing system, as needed

Create three (3) stages of pdf publication proofs; known as draft, proof and blueline

Complete editing changes to the publication as requested by client

Submit final layout to clients and the EMG team and get approval for press

Prepare and preflight press files for ads, Encore Arts Programs, and Custom Publishing Projects

Upload final and approved files to the printer’s preferred web site

Track time for each project in MagHub, our project tracking software

Create and upload interactive PDF of publication to encorespotlight.com

Create and upload content to Encore+ for specified programs and Custom Publishing Projects

Education and/or Experience:

5+ years of publication/magazine production & design experience, knowledge of printing process, prepress, paper stocks and proofing methods. Experience with preparing web-optimized images, HTML and CSS, and web content management systems is beneficial.

Certifications, Degrees, Licenses, or Registrations:

A degree in arts or design related field desirable

Computer Experience & Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat, as well as other standard graphic programs. Familiarity with web content platforms, like WordPress, and HTML/CSS. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word); project management and CRM (MagHub) software. Strong organizational, time management, and administrative skills are needed to manage deadlines and production scheduling on numerous, concurrent projects.
