Friends, BlackLabdanum is turning 1 today🐉🖤👶
It’s crazy to think a year has passed already - feels like just yesterday I packed the first orders (and let me say this again - I’ll always remember your support on the opening day! I was very much blown away!🖤)

BlackLabdanum started over 5 years ago as a blog about scents (my lifelong fascination), continued as Instagram page (where I’ve found so many great people) and finally evolved into the shop with my own creations - something that was never planned but happened naturally as the only logical metamorphosis.

I chose candle as my (starting) medium as I am myself a big admirer of the living flickering flame that transforms any space.
It’s mysterious, transportive, romantic, it makes you feel calm, cozy, “safe”. It’s a whole ritual🕯🖤

In case you’re wondering, this year has NOT been easy, by any means🙂 As all of you small business owners know, entrepreneurship can be quite frustrating - to me personally, wearing many hats, sometimes at once, is the most challenging part (don’t you wish you had a clone or two of yourself?!). I do have an incredible family team though, to back me up when I need it.
Has it been rewarding? Getting such warm feedback from many of our customers has proven to be so worth it! Yes, it has also been a very fulfilling year, and a lot of fun!🖤 And I’m certainly looking forward to many more to come.

Black Labdanum | Unique Scented Candles | Handcrafted in Washington Unique, handcrafted artisan candles from the Pacific Northwest

I made our room sprays 1.7 times more concentrated than standard so that these bottles would go a long way🌿
Our favorite ways to use them -

🫧A couple spritzes for the shower, instead of a shower steamer
🌙 3-4 sprays for the bedroom to fall asleep with a mellow soothing scent
🍃Koala Klub also has some bonus bug repellant properties - thanks to high content of eucalyptus and other naturals. Not a lot of mosquitos here in the but it’s good to keep spiders away😊

All four fragrances are made in-house, as usual, as a summer alternative to our candles:

•Temple - with Ylang Ylang, grapefruit and patchouli

•Koala Klub - with Eucalyptus (Radiata, Blue Mallee and Globulus), fir balsam and citrus oils - bergamot, lemon, sweet orange

• Drifting in the Breeze - with linden blossom, poppy and lemon

• and one of the favorites - Over the Woods, Into the Night - with natural essence of apricot, cedarwood and silver fir.

I wonder, how would you put them to use?

Let me talk a bit about mushrooms🍄
I’m no expert, but definitely a big admirer of these pillars of civilization. As well as an idea of using the scents of fungi in perfumery (some even remember I have a wonderful one-of-a-kind mushroom perfume created by fūm).

I’ve had the idea of making this ‘shroom-scented candle for a while, and here it is - Amanita Anima with notably earthy but “polished” and fresh fragrance of raw mushroom flesh - combined with oakmoss for the realistic environment feel, and also with a gentle floral touch (which is actually barely there in the hot throw, not to overwhelm the “star” of the scent, just to accent the freshness and take it further away from the “edible” direction).
