Happy ! Today, critical funds are being raised for the nonprofit organizations doing amazing work in their communities all across Washington State - and this year, we're asking our community to help us raise $6,000 in support of our community-based mentoring services.

How does our community-based model step past traditional one-to-one mentoring? At Community for Youth, we know that supporting a young person takes a village! Our goal is to give our students a wide variety of group sizes and settings so that they can find their comfort zones, and build authentic relationships with their mentors, other mentors, and their fellow students. We cultivate a space where students can have a great time with their peers AND build deep connections with our incredible adult mentors.

Sebastian is a current CfY student and senior at Vashon Island High School. For Sebastian, our combined community of students and adult mentors helped create a barrier-free setting for him to connect with his mentor, Coleman. Coleman and the CfY community have provided support as Sebastian prepares to pursue his BFA in Musical Theatre at Central Washington University.

Check out Sebastian's video below. Support students like Sebastian, and make a donation via our GiveBIG portal to help us raise $6,000 by 11:59 PM tonight: https://mtyc.co/r60y6f

In a world of credit scores, student loans, mortgages, and more - understanding credit is a crucial financial skill for students, and frankly, people of all ages!

Stacey Black, Lead Financial Educator at BECU, facilitated this month's Community Workshop focused on Financial Literacy. Stacey demystified credit for students, staff, and mentors alike - covering everything from credit scores, to revolving credit, to secured credit and more in an amazing, interactive presentation.

One student shared "I learned a lot from this workshop and made myself more mindful when it comes to being responsible of a credit card," and a mentor shared that they have had a credit card for 13 years but still learned a lot from this Stacey's presentation!

We're definitely feeling ready to use credit wisely over here! Thank you, Stacey and BECU, for teaching us the must-knows of credit - and for making it FUN!
