NON-NUTRITIVE SWEETENERS DON'T MAKE YOU CRAVE MORE SWEETS.⁠

This is from the April 2020 issue of the Weightology Research Review. I reviewed a study that looked at the impacts of stevia beverage consumption prior to lunch on appetite and calorie intake.⁠

Rather than enhancing appetite or "sweet tooth", stevia resulted in a tendency for a lower appetite and calorie intake at lunch.⁠

This is consistent with other studies on non-nutritive sweeteners (aspartame, sucralose, etc) in general. The vast majority of studies show they help reduce calorie intake and do NOT increase appetite or cravings for sweets.⁠

They can be an important tool in the fat loss toolbox.⁠
