Many immigrants update their address but forget this one important step after relocating.

Let's say you moved from California to North Carolina.

You updated your address.

You got a North Carolina driver's license.

But your employer is still running your payroll under California.

Now your records don't match.

Your address says North Carolina .

Your payroll and state tax records say California .

If your immigration case is reviewed, you may have to explain why those records are different.

In some cases, applicants have even received RFEs because of these payroll and state tax mismatches.

Now , It doesn't automatically mean you've done anything wrong.

But you'll still have to show that it was an administrative mistake and get the records corrected.

So if you move to another state, don't just update your address.

Make sure your employer also updates your payroll and state tax information.

It's a small detail, but it can save you a lot of unnecessary problems later.
