Log House Museum

Happy art fair season! This colorful oil painting depicts the Homestead Restaurant, known earlier as the Fir Lodge and currently as Il Nido. In the painting, its garden is lush, overflowing, and frames a statue of a couple with an umbrella. The work was commissioned by Doris Nelson, who sent a photo to New York for recreation. It was later framed in Seattle by Dunville Gallery.

On Saturday, families gathered at the Log House Museum to celebrate the arrival of the Seattle Seafair Pirates on Alki Beach. Young swashbucklers learned how compasses work, created their own pirate hats, and picked out temporary tattoos just like the pirates do. Last but certainly not least, The Seattle Public Library joined us for a storytime featuring the high seas, marine life, and pirate b***y (did you grab any of those SPL coin purses?)
