My office for the day - the breathtaking views from the Susan Neuman estate in Medina, WA, where I get to draw inspiration from the brilliant palette of the natural world around me in a repeat solo recital of my own composition, Vision, plus Ravel’s complete Miroirs and Rachmaninoff’s complete Six Moments Musicaux. This place is truly magical - I am having the most wonderful residency with the and this concludes a heart-filling weekend of music-making and teaching, plus bringing music to patients at the University of Washington Medical Center, some of whom may be enduring their last days of life.

In less than 24 hours (Friday, November 3, 7:00PM Central Time), catch me performing Rachmaninoff’s monumental Piano Sonata No. 1 in D minor during opening night of the annual CCPA PianoFest

Though many pianists shy away from this sonata - Rachmaninoff’s largest work for solo piano, on par with his Third Concerto - I have long championed this work out of reverence for its profound beauty and enticingly dark sentiment, “Rachmaninoffian” qualities that find their apotheosis in this electrifying work.

Joining me as co-performers are Polish pianist Michal Drewnowski - playing Rachmaninoff’s famous Piano Sonata No. 2 - and two outstanding CCPA students performing Rachmaninoff preludes from Op. 23, and

unveils a brand new Yamaha DCFX concert grand, and I am honored to be among the first to play this magnificent instrument live in concert.

Ariella and I gettin’ our Halloween groove on…

Spent a splendid evening in Chicago’s gorgeous Symphony Center rehearsing for tomorrow’s free chamber music concert at 6:30PM as part of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra All-Access Chamber Series.

After experiencing the joy and privilege of rehearsing my Piano Concerto No. 1 with the String Orchestra of the Rockies, I returned to my hotel to find these lovely gifts awaiting me at my hotel. I am blessed and thankful for the hospitality - so many folks to thank, and tasty Montana treats to try!
