Dear , Some of you have asked about sweet Mikey, our newest Serenity resident. Mikey came to us on June 18th after his elderly owner had passed away. As you can see Mikey is severely underweight, but we are happy to report that he has gained almost 70 lbs in the last month, only 400 to go! Thankfully Mikey has felt strong enough to lay down for naps and get up again, which is a HUGE milestone. Re-feeding a malnourished horse can be very tricky and requires regular vet visits and lab work to monitor his metabolic function. As a result we have racked up a vet bill of around $2700.
