An office co-op for independent creative professionals A curated workspace for creatives in Ballard, Seattle.

Photos from Monkey Barrel Media's post 02/22/2022

After 2 years of hunkering down, two of our beloved Barrelers have taken flight, moving on to new adventures in other parts of the world. 😢

However, their new adventures means we have space for new members!

Working from home is great...until it's not. If your productivity is slipping, or you're looking for a change of scenery but your favorite coffeeshop closed or doesn't feel private enough, the Monkey Barrel may be the answer, and we have an affordable desk opening in March.

If you keep 9-5 office hours every day, or you just need an occasional drop-in space to work on a side project, we'd love to talk to you.

You can email or Messenger Membership Coordinator Beth Jusino directly ([email protected]) for more info or to set up a tour.

Hey Seattle work-from-home/work-from-coffeeshop friends (and especially north Seattle/Shoreline area friends): anyone make a New Years resolution to get out of the house more? Ready to buckle down and get work done (rather than getting distracted by housework or pets)? Make connections with other people doing interesting things with flexible schedules? You're in luck: Monkey Barrel Media has an opening!

We're looking for a floating desk member: someone who doesn't come every day, and who is willing to bring what they need and "float" to one of the open desks that's almost always available. All members have 24-7 access to the building (a historic landmark former school with huge windows and great views), so you can set your own schedule, and because we're a co-op (sorry, no cleaning service or fancy cucumber water), our rent is super affordable.

This is a great opportunity for writers, editors, web developers, researchers, and others who spend a lot of time with a laptop. Please message us for details!

(Photo is from 2018. We've gotten a little better about decorating since then, but the window is just as tall and bright!)

Monkey Barrel power in action: when one Barrel alum (Amanda Castleman) writes about the cool things that the Barrel's landlord (Phinney Neighborhood Association) does, while quoting and photographing another Barrel alum (Alex Leviton).

What's great: having a farmer's market right outside our office door every Friday.

What's even better: the market has a new, Christopher-approved raclette stand. Welcome to the neighborhood, Fire and Scrape.

Flash back one month to when Monkey Barrel members Alex Leviton, Cindy Reeh, and Beth Jusino entered the "Enchanted Forest" annual auction of our new landlords the Phinney Neighborhood Association. Love being part of the Phinney-Greenwood community!
