LoFi is a huge chapter in my DJ story! They are closing this summer, and I’m lucky enough to be returning to town before they do. Before London Loves moved to LoFi, I had a great time guest DJing at “Sorted”. Hope to see some Britpop Loyals there.

Been spending some time editing and adding to my London Loves playlists! If you were a supporter of my DJ night over the years it will hopefully give you a dose of nostalgia. London Loves Records #1- #3 were originally laid out almost how I'd mix at an event, but everyone uses shuffle? So? Anyhow, we also have a London Loves Records: Ballads, Singalongs, and Anthems.(BSA), and a newer mix that I've been digging, "London Loves: "Daydream indie". I've been trying to add some newer artists to my playlists, as well as lost treasures people might suggest. One of the new artists I stumbled onto is Missing Image and I've snuck 1 of their songs onto a playlist and I'm looking forward to their April release "Lemon Tree" which looks and sounds like a bit of psychedelic pop genius. Stay Tuned!

I’m going to be editing and adding to our London Loves playlists on Spotify soon. If you have a band or a music project that might fit our format, which is pretty expansive . Including Britpop, Wave, post-punk, indie, etc, plus we also have a few Lust 4 Life playlists which include pretty much any rock n roll you can dance to and some EDM. So please submit suggestions or provide links. Cheers Haakon

DIRTY SIDEWALKS - GIRL (OFFICIAL VIDEO) 09/27/2020

Our friends Dirty Sidewalks have a new single. Somewhere between The Beach Boys, Jesus and the Mary Chain, and Seattle’s classic garage sound of The Sonics, they’ve launched “Girl”. Catchy enough for the radio and dirty enough to stay on your indie playlist. Check

Britpop in Seattle...

London Loves was started around 2000, after Seattle’s original Britpop night “Top of the Pops” at Baltic room folded. I give Ryan and Nadine full credit for inspiring me, and they were the first to have a night dedicated to bands like Blur, Charlatans, Pulp, Oasis, The LAs, Suede, Supergrass, Superfurry Animals, and more. Other Alternative nights would play a single occasionally, but having a Britpop night in Seattle was definitely a novelty.

I started London Loves at Kincora Pub on Seattle’s Capital hill, one or two Thursdays a month, and was lucky enough to be gifted Nadine’s contact at BMI which allowed me to do record releases for Kasabian, Oasis, The Coral, The Kills, White Stripes, and many more. After Kincora Pub closed, I moved London Loves to Capitol Club a block down in the same neighborhood for about a year, before Capitol Club closed. After a few months looking for another DJ spot, I was offered Wednesday nights at Buddha Belltown on 2nd ave downtown next to the famous Shorty’s. The night was struggling being on Wednesday nights, but I was happy enough getting guest DJ spots on the weekends. After a couple years DJing at Buddha, I had an opportunity to take over Thursday nights at LoFi in Seattles South Lake Union neighborhood. This started the best era for London Loves where we had a dancefloor, and we were able to build a small following. Nothing crazy, but I felt like we had a small community of 30-40 people that really loved the music, and were happy to have a home for their favorite music.
