We are sending this with a bittersweet and heavy heart as we say “see you later” to Corino — someone we know so many of you know and love.

For those who may not know, Corino opened Mondello back in 2005 and is the reason our family slowly began making our way here from Sicily. Over the years, he not only built Mondello into a place so many people call home, but also helped bring several other beloved restaurants to Seattle — including La Vita è Bella in Belltown with his dear friend Giuseppe Forte, Divino in Ballard, Pizzeria 88 in Capitol Hill, and Queen Margherita in Magnolia.

After many years of hard work, dedication, and unforgettable memories, he has officially made the decision to retire and return home to our hometown in Sicily.

As he slowly says his goodbyes to Pink Salt, we wanted to make sure he also has the chance to say goodbye to Mondello — the very first restaurant he opened and lovingly kept alive for the past 20 years.

We would love to invite you all to join us for dinner on Tuesday, May 19th at 6:00 PM to enjoy some of Corino’s favorite meals, share memories, and wish him well on this next chapter of life.

As his sister and niece, we are incredibly excited for his new journey, while also deeply sad to see him go — and we know many of you feel the same. So let’s spend one last evening together at Mondello with laughter, drinks, great food, and wonderful company as we celebrate Corino and all of his amazing accomplishments throughout the years.
