Two mirrored opaline flower pendants. Same glass, same strike, but the results are never identical - an ongoing reminder that the material always has the final say. And Opaline glass has a lot to say… As the glass cools from its molten state, small phosphate crystals form within the glass. The crystals scatter light causing the glass to appear milky, and in a narrow band of crystal concentration, opalescent orange and blue. Unlike iridescence which is a surface level scattering of light, this opalescence is a bulk material effect that occurs within the material. As a result, a few of the petals seem to glow from within.
