For individuals who are commenting without contributing meaningfully, we would like to clarify that last November 2024, a comprehensive letter was prepared and sent to various members of the Seattle city council. The purpose was to garner support for a proposal that would benefit all small local businesses, thereby enhancing the local economy and infrastructure. Although we engaged in discussions with city officials after sending the letter, we were subsequently met with silence.
This is the reason of our frustration.

Dear Fifa and City of Seattle representatives.

We are writing to express our deep frustration regarding the lack of business impact from the World Cup in Seattle.
Unfortunately, the event has not brought the expected foot traffic to local businesses, with the exception of Pioneer Square and perhaps a few places by the Pier and Pacific Place.

Both of our businesses are located directly outside the light rail stations, yet sales have been incredibly disappointing due to poor ex*****on by the city.
We can only imagine how much worse it has been for small businesses located even further from the stadium or transit lines.
This outcome is highly disappointing for us, especially since we purchased a significant amount of extra inventory to prepare for the crowds.

Regrettably, this marks the third major event in our city that has turned out to be a flop for local commerce.
Following the MLB All-Star Game and the Super Bowl Parade.

Small local businesses been struggling for a while now and we were really hoping this event was going to make a huge impact to our businesses but it hasn't.

I hope the city takes this feedback seriously to better support local businesses now or during future events.
