Not sure if you noticed but there are a few people in the city today. Drink water. Have fun. Get loud. And don't forget, ask a cop if you need anything. We are out there having a great time alongside everyone. We are the ones in bright yellow.

TODAY IS THE LAST FIFA WORLD CUP MATCH IN SEATTLE and I am not okay (in the best possible way). Round of 16. 5 PM. USA vs Belgium. One more time, Seattle gets to show the world who we are. While we celebrate Taylor and Travis’ wedding and the 250th birthday of our great nation, please don’t stop your cars on the freeway to watch the show. Also, you don’t need to call 911 to report hearing fireworks. We hear them too, but your calls clog the lines for people having a real emergency.

9:15 PM- After a full day of glizzys, light beer, and no water, Dave starts loudly stating “I know what I’m doing” as he piles the warehouse club-sized explosives on the un-watered lawn. other. Clad in a tank top, cargo shorts, and flip-flops. Dave is a walking OSHA violation. Dave has built a monument to “freedom” that strikes fear in the hearts of responsible adults, but not Dave. Dave lights the wick and waits.
9:48 PM- 911 begins receiving calls, some claiming gunshots, others calling for the Fire Department. The heroes in the big red trucks start rolling toward Dave.
9:50PM- Dave’s neighbor’s house is on fire. Dave is fine. Dave’s always fine. Dave’s buddy, the camera guy, is fine because the camera guy always survives. The Fire Department arrives and puts out the blaze, and no one is hurt. We will see Dave again next year.
To be clear: we love you, Dave. You are a constant in this crazy, unpredictable world. But just leave the fireworks to the professionals. Don’t be a Dave. Fireworks are illegal in the city. Head down to Lake Union and watch the professionals blow up stuff.
