Thank you so much to everyone who came out to parade with us on Saturday! We had a great time representing FamilyWorks alongside other community organizations, businesses, dance troupes, and marching bands on a lovely sunny day. This year, the organizers of the Wallingford Parade included a food drive to support our work, raising nearly 200 pounds of food!
This is one of our favorite traditions, and we hope you can join us next year for the parade's 75th year!

We're so excited for our first-ever Community Creative Market this Saturday, July 11! Swing by the parking lot behind our Wallingford Food Bank from 11 am–1 pm to shop for handmade goods, artwork, crafts, jewelry, and food, all made by FamilyWorks program participants!
We can't wait to see what our amazing participants have created to share with you all. Make sure to show up early to watch us participate in the Wallingford Parade, which the organizers have also made into a food drive to support our programs. You can bring non-perishable food items with you to donate in our bins!
Looking forward to seeing you there! 💜

Have you visited our Wallingford Food Bank and wondered about the beautiful mural we have hanging from the ceiling? You're in luck because we just interviewed Lis Rafailedes, she/her (.rafail), who designed both our Wallingford Food Bank mural and the mural at our Family Resource Center in the Roosevelt neighborhood.
We chatted with Lis about her life and journey as an artist, what inspires her work, and why she chooses to partner with organizations like ours. Click the link to read the full interview below and learn more about Lis!

Earlier this month, we hosted our annual Father’s Day celebration in the Cedar Crossing Community Room across the breezeway from our Family Resource Center. This was the first Father’s Day Celebration of this size and scale in many years, bringing together 15 fathers and grandfathers, along with 20 additional family members, for an evening focused on celebrating the important role fathers play in their families.
The event was held in partnership with Solid Ground's Food Smarts program in the Cedar Crossing Community Room, and featured a hands-on cooking activity where fathers and their children or grandchildren worked together to prepare a dessert of homemade chocolate pudding, homemade whipped cream, and fresh strawberries.
Thank you to all the families who came out to celebrate with us!
