Urban Forest Climate Series with Ed Dominguez | Saving Trees and Protecting Urban Forests · Seward Park Audubon Center (WA) 07/09/2026

Did you know Seattle lost more than 255 acres of tree canopy in just five years? That's roughly the size of Green Lake.

Even more concerning, the greatest losses have occurred in neighborhoods already most vulnerable to extreme heat and with the fewest environmental resources.

Trees do so much more than beautify our cities. They cool our neighborhoods, improve air quality, reduce stormwater runoff, provide essential wildlife habitat, and support our health and well-being.

Join us on Thursday, July 16 for the first of a three part Urban Forest Climate Series: Saving Trees and Protecting Urban Forests with naturalist Ed Dominguez.
Ed is a passionate Seattle-based naturalist, renowned bird expert, local educator, trusted voice in conservation, and former member of our Audubon staff.

To everyone celebrating, happy 4th of July!

It's only fitting to look to the Bald Eagle today, a cultural and spiritual symbol of freedom, democracy, environmentalism. That Bald Eagles today can be found in 49 of the 50 United States is a sign that conservation works when people come together. Once on the brink of extinction, Audubon and bird lovers like you helped win DDT bans and the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Now, more than 200,000 Bald Eagles fly across our skies! It's a reminder of the significance of conservation work for both birds and people.
