Grammercy Records is proud to present our latest release, "Live at Monkey Inn, 1961-62 Volume 1: The Quartet" by the Frank “Big Boy” Goudie, Bob Mielke, & Bill Erickson Combo.

This release is the first in the Frisco Jazz Archival Rarities series which is being done in partnership with award-winning broadcaster, writer, and audio engineer Dave Radlauer. The series will focus on important and noteworthy traditional jazz revival artists from the San Francisco Bay Area.

This album is the first of three volumes by Frank "Big Boy" Goudie and crew that contains highlights from over 12 hours of vivid stereo tape recordings made at The Monkey Inn in Berkeley, CA during 1961 and 1962. These albums feature incredible musicianship by 4 players who were at the height of their powers, and are sure to be enjoyed by any traditional jazz fan!

The most recent upload to our Jazz & Blues YouTube channel is a release featuring the legendary Jazz guitarist Charlie Christian! The album "Jazz Guitar Hero" mainly features tracks with Christian as a side man with Benny Goodman. These selections feature both Goodman's Sextet and his bigger Orchestra. Between the proper members of Goodman's groups, and some special guest appearances, this album features a mindboggling amount of talent! Lionel Hampton, Fletcher Henderson, Johnny Guarnieri, Cootie Williams, and Georgie Auld are a few of the regular members of Bennie's team that appear on this album. Count Basie sits in on a couple tracks with Goodman's Sextet, and there is also a studio rehearsal take with Christian, Basie, Buck Clayton, Lester Young, Jo Jones, and others sans "Bennie's bugle," so to speak!

All in all there's some pretty amazing Jazz to be had! So take a listen, and enjoy!

The latest upload to the Grammercy Jazz & Blues YouTube channel is the album "Rare Performances" by the incomparable Billie Holiday! The album features a host of rare, infrequently heard, and hard to find takes by Billie with a number of different backing groups and musicians. The list of Orchestra's and sidemen playing on the tracks reads like a bit of a who's who list of the Giants Of Jazz. Count Basie, Stan Getz, Red Norvo, Hot Lips Page, Bobby Hackett, P*e Wee Russell, and Lester Young just to name a few! As usual, Billie never seemed to do any of the songs the same way twice, so many of the versions are quite interesting to compare and contrast with the more widely known studio versions. So give it a listen! Enjoy!
