Overview - Coalition for Education and Learning.pdf 04/27/2020

I’m designing floating schools for stateless children in Sabah, Malaysia and could use some volunteers to build our case for the Pearls of Sabah project, a project Coalition for Education and Learning (CFEL) bit.ly/cfel_overview .

I just signed up to present the Pearls of Sabah project by introducing CFEL at a national online/offline Maker-convention with the "makers4humanity" from May,29 to June, 1st under the title "for futures summit" during "island-maker" talk or discussion to compare projects, materials, applications.

The caveat is that this project is at its embryonic stage, so we sort of don’t have anything lockdown yet. What I’m presenting will be our research in term problem solving world challenges for 100 students using bio fabrication and green new technology curriculum and how education and learning ties in together all bits and pieces to form highly functional ecosystem and empowering low income stateless communities worldwide starting from Sabah, Malaysia because it’s at its core an educational and learning facility.

I’m working toward distilling the green technology and science behind the engineering of building the floating schools into educational pieces for problem solving based curriculum. The whole green facilities (geodesic bamboo, floating mushrooms, wave power generator, biorocks fish farm, aeroponic,...) become the education and learning tools for problem solving projects based curriculum where apprentices getting paid stipend for going to schools and offered seed capital and access to other resources to start their own floating island once they graduate.

The floating schools for stateless children in Sabah, Malaysia will offer bio-fabrication and sustainability curriculum (passive solar water sanitation, CO2 scrubber, solar power, biofuels, ...)

Ultimately, the mission is to provide multigenerational, self sufficient and sustainable, habitation for 1 Billion displaced persons.

P.S.: I have this love and hate relationship with deadlines. Deadlines is probably the only to get things done. 😂 lol

She grew a canoe out of mushrooms. Could fungi be the answer to climate change? 04/26/2020

[NBC News] - Catch a glimpse of Katy Ayers paddling her canoe on a Nebraska lake this summer and you might do a double take.
At first glance, her 8-foot vessel looks much like any other canoe — same oblong shape, same pointed ends, same ability to float on water.
But upon closer inspection, it’s clearly anything but ordinary: Ayers’ canoe is made out of mushrooms.
More specifically, her boat is made from mycelium, the dense, fibrous roots of the mushroom that typically live beneath the soil. Ayers, 28, a student at Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska, even gave her creation a fitting name: “Myconoe.”

She grew a canoe out of mushrooms. Could fungi be the answer to climate change? “Mushrooms are here to help us — they’re a gift,” college student Katy Ayers said. “They’re our biggest ally for helping the environment.”
