Some elephants are introverts, others are extroverts. Taabu falls squarely in the latter category. From the moment he was rescued, he has been a cheerful, outgoing young bull. See here how he pops over to say a quick hello to Keeper Sammy, wrapped up with a trunk wave. Niceties complete, he strolls back to his favourite activity — wrestling with his best friend, Choka! In fact, Taabu is a friend to everyone. He is one of the older bulls at the Nursery, but he is always gentle and kind. From shepherding around new rescues to breaking up particularly rowdy games to chasing off interlining baboons, he’s always looking out for his fellow orphans. We rescued Taabu during the 2021 drought. Now, he has his whole future ahead of him.
