For 50 years, the Washington State Catholic Conference has helped bring the voice of our Catholic faith into public life.

In this 50th Anniversary reflection, Bishop Eusebio Elizondo reminds us that the WSCC was founded with a bold vision: to defend human dignity, uphold the common good, and ensure that the Gospel continues to shape how we advocate for life, justice, and peace in Washington state.

Over five decades, the WSCC has served as a bridge between Church and state, parishes and policy, faith and action. This work is not only for bishops or staff — it belongs to all of us.

Each of us has a role to play in witnessing to the Gospel in public life: the laity, religious, young people, elders, parishes, schools, and Catholic communities across Washington.

As Bishop Elizondo shares, may we continue this mission with faith, with hope, and above all, with love.

As the WSCC continues celebrating 50 years of Catholic Advocacy in Washington state in 2026, we give thanks for every person who has helped bring Life, Justice, and Peace into public life.
