Recently, Sebring Fire Department,Highlands County Fire Rescue, and Avon Park Fire Department responded together to a structure fire in Avon Park. While it's rare for all three departments to work the same incident, this call served as a great reminder of the strong partnerships that exist throughout our county.

From the moment crews arrived, personnel from all three agencies seamlessly integrated on scene without missing a beat. Firefighters worked side-by-side, communicating effectively and operating as one team to bring the fire under control.

We are proud of the relationships we've built with our neighboring departments and grateful for the professionalism, training, and teamwork that allow us to work together so effectively when our communities need us most.

One team. One mission. Serving Highlands County.

The Sebring Fire Department is proud to announce that our newly established Honor Guard Program has received a generous donation of $5,500 to help purchase uniforms and equipment needed to represent our department and community with professionalism and pride.

This incredible contribution was made possible through the personal generosity of Scott Kaplan with Air & Electrical Services, Dave Travers with Sebring Custom Tanning and Sebring Fire Department Fire Chief, Robert Border, who each donated their own personal donation to support this important program. Not pictured, Ethan Woodham, who also contributed to the donation. Their commitment to honoring the fire service and our community is truly appreciated.

A fire department Honor Guard serves a vital role by representing the department during funerals, memorial services, line-of-duty death ceremonies, community celebrations, parades, and other special occasions. The Honor Guard helps ensure that firefighters, veterans, and community members are recognized with the dignity, respect, and honor they deserve.

As we continue building this program, this donation will help provide the professional appearance and equipment necessary for our members to proudly serve during some of our community’s most significant moments.

Please join us in thanking Scott, Dave, Ethan, and Chief Border for their generosity and support. Their investment will have a lasting impact on the Sebring Fire Department and the citizens we are honored to serve.

Last week, members of Sebring Fire Department and Highlands County Fire Rescue completed the Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) Course at Camp Blanding in Starke, Florida. This course is specifically designed for law enforcement officers, EMTs, and paramedics, making it a great interdisciplinary training environment—not limited to paramedics alone.

Over the course of five days, students participated in scenario-based training in order to further prepare personnel in rescue task force (RTF) operations. This training significantly enhances our departments readiness to active threat incidents and mass casualty incidents.

Participants sharpened their skills through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on practice, and realistic exercises utilizing high-fidelity human and K9 training mannequins.

We are proud of the representation from the Sebring Fire Department and Highlands County Fire Rescue and their unwavering commitment to professional growth and operational readiness.

Did you know that properly maintained exit lighting and fire extinguishers are critical to keeping employees, customers, and visitors safe during an emergency? 🚒🧯

Exit signs and emergency lighting help occupants quickly and safely evacuate a building when visibility is reduced or power is lost. Fire extinguishers provide an important first line of defense against small fires before they can grow and threaten lives and property.

As part of our commitment to community safety, Sebring Fire Department conducts routine inspections of commercial buildings to ensure fire protection systems, emergency lighting, exit signage, and fire extinguishers are properly maintained and ready when needed. These inspections help businesses remain compliant with fire codes while ensuring we are all prepared should an emergency occur that requires our response.

Fire safety is a shared responsibility, and a few minutes of prevention today can make all the difference tomorrow.🚒🔥
