With gas prices on the rise and a focus on faster in-town response, the department will be transitioning our primary fleet to electric utility golf carts this season.
This change is part of a new initiative to go green, and we’re proud to partner with Ameren Illinois to support the move toward more efficient, electric-powered emergency response.
The new units allow for quicker deployment, easier navigation on local streets, and improved efficiency across all calls. Our engines will be phased out as the carts are fully implemented.
Each cart will be equipped for emergency response and fitted with lights and sirens.
We appreciate the community’s support as we roll out this change.
