Day Two was a beautiful day, filled with culture, memory, and meaning. What a day!!
Being Mexican and Black has always meant living within two deeply rooted, vibrant cultures. Food, especially, has been at the center of that for me. It holds memory. It holds family. It home for me. It’s fried chicken, pinto beans, wile chile and bell peppers on a plate. It’s means sometimes being resourceful. We did that with our meals.
This day felt like an embodiment of that experience, being raised in Black culture, cooking alongside my grandmother, and now bringing that same familiarity and feeling to the table in a new way. Having the incredible on site to create and share in that experience was incredibly special.
Every detail, every contribution, every person added something meaningful to this day. I’m so grateful for a team that showed up with intention and care. Thank you to each vendor and model that’s helping bring Project Papoo to life!

As part of an upcoming editorial project, I’m creating a portrait series exploring hair as adornment, identity, and storytelling.
This series will feature Black models with natural hair or existing hairstyles such as braids, twists, locs, or textured styles. Each portrait will celebrate the beauty and artistry of hair through sculptural styling using florals, thread, everyday objects, and natural elements.
These portraits will be photographed separately from the main editorial scenes and later released as part of the full story publication and media release following the project date.

Ummm pinch me!! I am the luckiest photographer in the world 🥹❤️ look at our gorgeous bride! A few years ago I had the opportunity of photographing her brother and sister in laws wedding! Yesterday I got to be with everyone again and celebrate Imari and Matthew! I loved it so much!!!!
