After moving away from the city life into the depths and beauty of the rural countryside, powerlifting took a back seat as "farm strong" became my new norm.

Fast forward five years, and by God's grace a powerlifting gym opened only 30 minutes from me! has opened the door to me resuming my quest toward a 1500 raw total, and I have to say, making a comeback at 41 after not barbell training since I was 36 is AMAZING.

I am thankful that farm work kept me strong, because on week one of my seven week training cycle, I found that much of my top end strength was still there.

Squat went from 450 to 365
Bench went from 350 to 250
Deadlift went from 550 to 455

Not bad for 5 years off!

Now after 7 weeks back on my programming, my squat is back up to 415lbs. In case you're wondering why it's not 405lbs, you can thank the 55lb deadlift bar I used.

Stay tuned for bench and deadlift days coming up this week and we'll see where these first 7 weeks have got me.

The quest for 1500 is back.
