⚓ Florida has introduced updated boating and Wave Runner laws that every resident and visitor should know:

✅ Boating Education is Required
If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, you must complete a boating safety course to operate motorized vessels—including Jet Skis and Wave Runners.

🚨 New Law Enforcement Changes
Under the Boater Freedom Act, officers now need a valid reason to stop your vessel—no more random safety checks. At the same time, penalties for reckless behavior have become much stricter.

🛟 Wave Runner Rules to Know
• Must be 14+ to operate
• Life jackets are mandatory (no inflatables)
• Daytime use only (sunrise to sunset)
• Engine cutoff lanyard must be attached
• Reckless riding = serious consequences

⚖️ "Lucy’s Law" = Zero Tolerance
Leaving the scene of a boating accident now carries severe penalties, including mandatory prison time.

🎓 Getting Certified is Easy
You can complete a quick temporary certificate for rentals or earn your lifetime Florida Boating Safety Card online.
