Question! How are you when it comes to waiting? For most of us we don't like to hear, wait. We want to keep moving, keep going, keep doing. Last night's verse was from Psalms 27: 14 which says.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
David a very familiar person in the Bible had his season of waiting. He was anointed king at a young age but had to wait before stepping in the role of king. In the waiting process David had his ups and downs as years passed. He beat a 9ft giant, he won many battles, he also was chased with death threats to his life. He had his share of troubles. David understood what it meant to wait for the next or better season of life to come. When God puts you in a time of waiting how do you handle it? Do you complain or learn? A farmer prepares the ground, plants the seed and fertilizes it. Then wait's to harvest the crop. But in waiting with God we can learn a few things if we're willing to pay attention. In waiting we learn patience. We may wait for months or years before a prayer is answered that can only come at the right time. Waiting takes courage as the verse says be strong and take heart. Before God answers our prayers, or changes our situation he may need to change us on the inside. Our hearts, minds, or thinking may need to adjust before God answers. Also waiting allows certain things to line up in order to come at the right time. David learned it was important to wait as we see he said it twice in this verse. If we run ahead of God we get out of his plan for us. When we look at David's life we see the benefits of waiting. Waiting on God is not doing anything. When we wait we put our trust in God. In waiting we can get closer to God. In waiting God teaches us new things and what we need to know for the next step in life. Chapter 27 shows us what David did. David saw the Lord as light, help in daily life, salvation, the one who forgives and saves from sin. David saw God as his strong power, the one who gave hope, help in fear, loneliness. All David wanted was to be in God's house, and see the beauty of God. When we choose to look at the beauty of God by allowing Jesus to guide us we stay close to him in any season of life. David finished life strong and so can we when we wait on God. Hope this helps. If I can pray for you in your season of waiting let me know. Have a great week in the Lord.

This past Saturday night our verse was from 2 Timothy 1:7 which says.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self - discipline.
This verse gives us a lot to chew on. First we see it's God that gives. It's not what we make up or what we work for but it's God that gives. Second this verse tells us what God doesn't give. Fear and Timidity. Timidity means shy, nervous, or lack of courage. These things come from ourselves or the enemy working on our emotions. When you're trying to make major decisions in life, do your emotions get the best of you? Are the decisions chaotic with your mind jumping around? Maybe you're fearful or anxious. Know this is not from God. God brings peace and calmness in our decisions when they are God's plan for us. The enemy or our emotions will keep us stirred up fearful and anxious but God will keep you settled and confident. The third thing this verse tells us is what God does give. Power; power to keep your cool, power to live the life he wants, power to be the person God wants you to be. He gives love. The ability to see people as God sees people. To be willing to help those that are in need. Self- discipline. The ability to stand firm and live the God centered life you were made for. We are given power, love, and self - discipline to point people to God not for our benefit. If you want life to be more meaningful, more fulfilling, more energized let God in it. God gives us his spirit to have these qualities. These qualities that help us live life to the fullest only come from God and only are best used for God. But to have his spirit , his power, his love, his self- discipline you must give your life to Jesus. When accepting Jesus as your Saviour then and only then can you fully see these things at their best. I can answer the question that goes through all of our minds at some point. If I let Jesus save me and I live for him can my life be better? Does this really work? The answer? YES, YES, YES!!!! How do you find out? Pray. I even suggest getting on your knees and praying. Pray and see what happens. Hope this gives you something to think about this week.
Have a good week.
