Personal Care Assistant (PCA) / Independent Living Skills Trainer (ILST)

Butler Rescue Hands Inc. is currently seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dependable Personal Care Assistant (PCA) / Independent Living Skills Trainer (ILST) to provide in-home services to individuals in the Waterbury, CT area.

We are looking for professionals with a strong background in both PCA and ILST services who are passionate about helping individuals maintain their independence and achieve their personal goals.

Minimum Qualifications

At least 3 years of verifiable, hands-on experience providing both PCA and ILST services
Experience working with individuals receiving Connecticut waiver services is preferred
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required)
Clean criminal background check
CPR and First Aid Certification preferred ( as of 1/1/2027, it is mandatory as per DCP)
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Professional, dependable, and compassionate
Ability to work independently while following individualized service plans.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, dressing, mobility, and meal preparation
Provide Independent Living Skills Training (ILST), including budgeting, meal planning, shopping, medication reminders, household organization, community integration, and developing daily living skills
Transport individuals to appointments, community activities, and errands as needed
Maintain accurate daily documentation and progress notes
Observe and report any changes in the individual's condition or needs
Follow all agency policies, state guidelines, and individualized care plans
Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
