Please call Gov. Jim Justice’s office to support House Bill 2941- Restore WV Film Industry Investment Act. Call 304.558.2000 before February 23 or the bill dies on the 24th.

We ask former Ryan Film Institute (RFI) students, parents, teachers, board members, and dinner theatre fundraiser supporters to speak up about value of filmmaking in West Virginia! WV Film Office helped fund our Teen Filmmakers’ Workshop student scholarships. With demise of WVFO and Film Tax Credits, we were forced to close RFI.

However, now we have an opportunity to call Gov. Justice and ask him to support House Bill 2941- reinstatement of WV Film Industry and Tax Investment Act! Our WV youth deserve opportunities to learn from TV/Film/Video industry professionals who need your help to get back to work. Gov. Justice’s office phone is 304.558.2000. Thank you!

P.S. Just heard that negative forces in Charleston are attempting to kill this bill while in committee and prevent it from getting on the docket to be read and voted on during this session. They want to KILL WV Filmmaking. Please call and make sure it is voted on this session!!!

Greetings friends of RFI!
When WV Legislators voted to shutter WV Film Office in 2017, and eliminate Tax Credits this year, we lost our funding and they killed our industry. Sadly, we were forced to discontinue Teen Filmmakers’ Workshop.

However, I am now teaching Broadcast Journalism at Washington High School, Charles Town, WV! I am very excited about this opportunity in a brand-new setting where I am able to train students with a passion for TV, Video, Film and Journalism!

We are still cleaning out broken and obsolete equipment to make way for new gear (prosumer HD video cameras, LED lights, boom and lavolier mics, etc.) so donations of everything from video gear with SD cards, MacBook Pro laptops, to Craft Services equipment like a fridge, microwave, etc. would be most welcome and very appreciated!
