Who are The Arizona Rangers?

The Arizona Rangers are a uniformed, all-volunteer, non-profit civilian auxiliary with a legacy dating back to 1901. Unlike the original Territorial Rangers who tracked outlaws, the modern organization serves as a civilian support group for law enforcement and community organizations across the state.

What the Arizona Rangers Do?

The Rangers operate through local "Companies" under a three-point mission:

Law Enforcement Support: Acting as a "force multiplier," Rangers work at the request of federal, state, and local agencies. Duties include traffic control, crime scene preservation, DUI checkpoint assistance, prisoner transport, and school safety.

Community & Security Services: They provide a high-visibility, armed, and uniformed presence for civic events, including festivals, parades, and marathons.

Youth & Heritage Preservation: A core focus is supporting youth programs and leadership initiatives. They also maintain the history of the 1901–1909 Territorial Rangers through educational outreach and their state museum.

Commitment to Training

Members are unpaid volunteers who provide their own equipment. Every Ranger must pass a background check, hold an Arizona CCW permit, and graduate from the Arizona Ranger Training Academy (ARTA). Training meets high standards for fi****ms, defensive tactics, and law enforcement procedures, ensuring they are prepared to assist sworn officers effectively.

Membership Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old and an Arizona resident.

Must pass state and national background checks.

Must complete the Arizona Ranger Training Academy.

Must commit a minimum number of hours to duties and meetings monthly.

The Arizona Rangers continue to serve "with honor and integrity," providing vital services that save taxpayer dollars annually while keeping Arizona communities safe.
