In addition to being careful about what information you share with apps, you also need to check the privacy settings of apps for you and your children. Your privacy is often being invaded and you do not even know it. People usually do not read the fine print when agreeing to the terms an app. They agree to it because of the convenience and enjoyment the app may bring. But ask yourself if you would be OK with apps listening to your private conversations when they are on in the background. It sounds creepy, but it is happening!

Instagram is listening to you – Damián Le Nouaille – Medium Some weeks ago, I saw an ad (sponsored post) on Instagram that surprised me. It was about a product I never googled, shared, liked, or…
S*x offenders are not the only thing that parents should educate their children about online. There is a lot of graphic material on the Internet that children can access with just the click of a button. A staggering 90% of children ages 8-16 have seen online po*******hy. Whether or not it was intentional, po*******hy and s*xual content is increasingly prevalent in the online world, so setting up blockers and filters can be one of the best techniques to protect your children from this material. In addition to po*******hy, graphic content such as violence and explicit language is easily accessible through websites such as YouTube and online games. This content is very tough to monitor, but setting up parental blockers can help minimalize exposure. Gaming sites and devices contribute to 21% of children’s Internet use, with 8% of them being exposed to n**e pictures from other online gamers without having given their permission. With the increase in gaming communities, as well as games and videos containing explicit content, parents need to monitor their children’s habits more closely now and filter their Internet search options.
The development team at Child Security First is currently busy working on their first product, a hardware-based proxy server that addresses this issue. It is essentialy a small box that parents can plug into their home router, and within seconds, it will begin filtering out inappropriate content. More important, it will also give parents the ability to monitor their kids web, gaming, and social media traffic. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for an upcoming announcement and preview of an initial prototype.
Internet s*xual predators tend to fall between the ages of 18 and 55, although some are older or younger. Their targets tend to be between the ages of 11 and 15. In 100% of the cases, teens that are the victims of s*xual predators have gone willingly to meet with them.
